RedSeal, a cyber terrain analytics platform provider, has hired Bryan Barney as its CEO, according to a prepared statement. Barney replaces Ray Rothrock, an initial investor who served as RedSeal's CEO since 2014; Rothrock will remain on the company's board of directors.

Private equity firm Symphony Technology Group (STG) last year acquired majority control of RedSeal. The company has raised at least $142 million to date.

Barney is expected to drive the ongoing development of RedSeal's platform, the company said. He also is tasked with promoting RedSeal's platform commercially.

Who Is Bryan Barney?

Barney has 29 years of commercial software and 18 years of cybersecurity experience. He most recently served as SVP and GM of Symantec's Enterprise Security Group -- which Broadcom acquired in 2019.

Prior to joining Symantec, Barney served as SVP and GM of Sophos' Network Security Group and helped the company expand its network security business by an average of 25 percent year over year, RedSeal indicated. Barney also held multiple leadership roles at McAfee over a 13-year span.

A Closer Look at RedSeal

RedSeal offers a cyber terrain analytics platform that uses algorithms to calculate a model of an organization's network and how data moves through it, the company stated. The platform models networks without agents, span ports or taps.

Furthermore, RedSeal's platform overlays host and endpoint information and any identified security vulnerabilities to highlight risks, the company stated. The platform also retrieves configuration files from switches, routers, firewalls and load balancers and imports host and vulnerability data from vulnerability scanners and other sources to help organizations detect and address security dangers.
