Sumo Logic Names Security Industry Vet Joe Kim as CEO

Sumo Logic has appointed Joe Kim as its president and CEO, effective immediately. Kim succeeds Ramin Sayar, who is stepping down after eight years as Sumo Logic's CEO.

Commenting on his appointment as Sumo Logic's CEO, Kim said:

"I have long been impressed by Sumo Logic's ability to deliver powerful insights to customers' cloud infrastructures through its observability and security solutions. We intend to build on this strong foundation and deliver the leading SaaS analytics platform for reliable and secure cloud-native applications."

Sayar also commented on his time as Sumo Logic's CEO and the Kim hire:

"I am very proud of the continued success and journey for Sumo Logic. I know that Sumo Logic's customers, partners and employees are in good hands with Joe Kim as CEO."

What Joe Kim Brings to Sumo Logic

Kim is a technology executive with more than two decades of operating executive experience in the application, infrastructure and security industries, Sumo Logic stated. He most recently served as a senior operating partner for Francisco Partners. Prior to joining Francisco Partners, Kim served as chief technology officer and chief product officer at Citrix.

Furthermore, Kim has held various senior executive roles at SolarWinds, Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) and General Electric (GE). He also serves on the boards of SmartBear, which provides software testing, monitoring and developer tools, and global job placement network Andela.

Kim will work alongside Sumo Logic's team to drive growth and innovation, he said. In doing so, Kim could help Sumo Logic further extend its global reach.

Francisco Partners Finalizes Its Sumo Logic Acquisition

The Kim appointment comes after Francisco Partners in May 2023 completed its acquisition of Sumo Logic for approximately $1.7 billion. Francisco Partners announced plans to acquire Sumo Logic in February 2023.

Sumo Logic provides a Continuous Intelligence Platform that helps end-users secure and protect their applications against cyber threats, the company noted. It also offers a partner program that allows MSSPs, MSPs and other technology providers to deliver solutions for monitoring, troubleshooting and securing applications.
