1. Industry Recognition: Abnormal Security, provider of behavioral AI-based cloud email security platform, announced that it has achieved recognitions in AI, cloud, and cybersecurity leadership. Abnormal has been named to the Forbes Cloud 100, a ranking of the top 100 private cloud companies in the world, published by Forbes. Also, Redpoint Ventures has named Abnormal to its InfraRed 100 list of transformative companies in cloud infrastructure and was recognized by Bloomberg as one of the 10 AI Companies to Watch.

2. Leadership Move: Identiv, a global digital security and identification special in the Internet of Things (IoT), has appointed John Moss as a senior advisor to its board of directors and CEO. Moss will advise Identiv on its product development and go-to-market strategies.

3. Industry Recognition: CrowdStrike has been recognized as a "Customers’ Choice" in the 2023 Gartner Peer Insights Voice of the Customer for Managed Detection and Response Service report across North America, Europe, the Middle East & Africa and Asia-Pacific. Within the report, CrowdStrike was recognized with an overall rating of 4.8 out of 5 out of 47 verified customer reviews, among the highest rated of all vendors named a Customers’ Choice in this market.

4. Cybersecurity Education Initiative: Metro State University in Minnesota has been awarded one of just three newly created grants from the National Security Agency's (NSA) National Centers of Academic Excellence in Cybersecurity to establish the Metro State University Cybersecurity Clinic. The pilot program will help protect small businesses, nonprofits, K–12 schools, and local government entities from cyberattacks. The $1.45 million grant will allow Metro State to provide free or low-cost cybersecurity services to organizations that face increased cyber threats but lack the resources to mitigate them.

5. Business Expansion: Socura, a UK-based managed detection and response services business, has relocated to Cardiff from London to capitalize on the Welsh boom in security skills, startups and government investment. Cardiff is one of the fastest growing tech hubs in Europe and home to the Cyber Innovation Hub, a Welsh Government initiative created to bring cyber security products, businesses and talent to the region, the company said.

6. Product Launch: Adaptive Shield, a SaaS security company, unveiled during Black Hat USA this week its Identity Threat Detection and Response (ITDR) capabilities to help organizations mitigate identity-related threats. When paired with its SaaS Security Posture Management (SSPM) solution, ITDR addresses the complete SaaS ecosystem security lifecycle, the company said.

7. Security Incident Under Review: A U.S. cyber safety body will review issues relating to cloud-based identity and authentication infrastructure that will include an assessment of a recent Microsoft breach that led to the theft of emails from U.S. government agencies, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) said on Friday. The review by the Cyber Safety Review Board will look at the malicious targeting of cloud computing environments. (Source: Reuters)
