Secuvant, a Top 100 MSSP in Utah provides managed detection and response (MDR) and risk management services, has named cybersecurity industry veteran Neal Francom as its global security operations center (SOC) manager. In this role, Francom is expected to lead Secuvant's cyberMDR operations practice and help the company deliver managed security detection and response services to customers and locations around the world, according to the company.

Francom most recently served as director of information security and risk portfolio for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints; he retired from the church's Office of the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) in August. In addition, Francom has held roles as the church's chief of staff to the CISO and assistant CISO.

Overall, Francom has more than two decades of IT security experience, Secuvant indicated. He also has experience in the following areas:

  • Cybersecurity.
  • Domestic and international policy compliance.
  • IT auditing.
  • IT systems design.
  • Operations policy/process design.
  • Staff planning and training.

Cybersecurity Talent

The Francom hire is one of several recent Secuvant additions that could help the company further extend its managed security services market reach.

Secuvant in August appointed Joe Nelson as its vice president of managed services. Nelson, who possesses more than 20 years of experience in technical project management and IT operations, is expected to explore ways to help the company enhance its MDR services and risk management program.

In July, Secuvant named cybersecurity expert and attorney Matt Sorenson as its CISO and vice president of risk management. Sorenson will lead Secuvant's cyberRPM risk management practice and help businesses "address growing security threats while enabling revenue and lowering risks and costs," he said in a prepared statement.
