WatchGuard, a network and endpoint security company, has appointed Miguel Carrero as its VP of strategic accounts. Carrero is responsible for leading WatchGuard's efforts to target, onboard and manage partnerships with MSSPs, global service providers and other strategic accounts, the company stated.

Carrero is expected to help WatchGuard's strategic accounts team become a business partner for MSSPs and other strategic accounts, the company indicated. This team also will build upon WatchGuard's existing investment in the service provider route-to-market and explore ways to expand within its global strategic accounts and the MSSP community.

Who Is Miguel Carrero?

Carrero has more than two decades of executive experience at global enterprises and early-stage startups.

Prior to joining WatchGuard, Carrero served as SVP and GM at Mobileum, a telecommunications analytics company. Here, he led the company's security business unit.

In addition, Carrero served as CRO at Siemplify, a security orchestration, automation and response (SOAR) platform provider. He also has held various executive leadership roles at Hewlett Packard Enterprise.

WatchGuard Updates Managed Security Services Platform, Adds Endpoint Security Specialization

The Carrero hire comes after WatchGuard has made moves to bolster its MSP and MSSP partnerships over the past few months.

WatchGuard in February 2021 announced new WatchGuard Cloud platform capabilities to help MSPs deliver managed security services. These capabilities reduce the barrier for MSPs to leverage WatchGuard Cloud to become MSSPs.

Also, WatchGuard in October 2020 unveiled an endpoint security specialization for its WatchGuardONE channel partner program. The specialization allows WatchGuardONE partners to sell Panda Security endpoint security solutions; WatchGuard previously acquired Panda in March 2020.
