Cipherpoint (CPT), an Australian company that helps organizations discover, protect and control sensitive information across multiple platforms and repositories, has acquired Virtual Information Technology Pty Limited (VIT Cyber Security), a cybersecurity consulting firm that specializes in digital forensics and incident response. This is technology M&A deal number 742 that MSSP Alert and sister site ChannelE2E have covered so far in 2021.

CPT Acquires VIT Cyber Security: Deal Details

CPT will leverage VIT Cyber Security's capabilities to provide "best-of-breed solutions," Chairman Ted Pretty said. In doing so, CPT can extend its cybersecurity market reach in the Tasmanian market and Victoria and other portions of Australia.

Meanwhile, VIT Cyber Security will continue to focus on supporting its customers, founder Mark Hitchcock stated. The company provides such security services as:

  • Incident reporting
  • Endpoint security
  • Security training
  • Threat discovery
  • Vulnerability assessments

VIT Cyber Security also offers a strategic partner program to research, test and validate security solutions. To date, VIT Cyber Security has established strategic partnerships with CrowdStrike, Sophos and other cybersecurity companies.

CPT Acquisition Experience

CPT has M&A experience. The company in January 2021 acquired Brace 168 to deliver data protection, data discovery and other integrated security solutions.

CPT delivers managed security services via Brace 168, which operates as a wholly owned subsidiary. It also leverages an operations and advisory team that helps organizations identify and address security vulnerabilities.
