Cisco Systems has announced plans to acquire Valtix, a cloud network security company, for an undisclosed sum. The company expects the acquisition to be finalized by the end of the third quarter of fiscal year 2023, according to a prepared statement.
This is technology M&A deal number 149 that MSSP Alert and sister site ChannelE2E have covered so far in 2023.
Cisco, founded in 1984, is based in San Jose, California. The company has 97,182 employees listed on LinkedIn. Cisco's areas of expertise include security, networking and unified communications.
Valtix, founded in 2018, is based in Santa Clara, California. The company has 38 employees listed on LinkedIn. Valtix's areas of expertise include network security, cloud computing and SaaS technology.
What the Valtix Acquisition Means for Cisco
Valtix will join Cisco's Security Business Group, the companies said. The business will integrate its offerings into Cisco's Security Cloud portfolio. By doing so, Valtix will help Cisco secure its customers' workloads across their multi-cloud environments.
In addition, Cisco supports Valtix's mission to "simplify network security, protecting workloads no matter which cloud they are created or consumed in," Cisco Chief Product Officer Raj Chopra stated. Cisco also will ensure that its customers can use Valtix's offerings to manage network traffic that flows between applications and end-users.
Cisco Unveils IIoT Cloud Management Tools, Security Cloud Platform Plans
The Valtix acquisition announcement comes after Cisco in February 2023 introduced cloud management tools to help organizations secure their industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) assets. At this time, Cisco also added risk-based capabilities to its security portfolio to help organizations protect their hybrid work and multi-cloud environments.
Previously, Cisco in June 2022 announced plans to ensure that its Security Cloud platform "secures and connects organizations of any shape and size," the company said. Since that time, Cisco has been designing its Security Cloud to be an open platform that allows organizations to protect their IT environments without public cloud lock-in.
