SilverEdge Government Solutions, backed by private equity firm Godspeed Capital, has purchased threat and identity intelligence provider Counter Threat Solutions (CTS) for an undisclosed sum.

This is technology M&A deal number 923 that MSSP Alert and sister site ChannelE2E have covered so far in 2022.

SilverEdge, founded in 2022, is based in Columbia, Maryland. The company has 63 employees listed on LinkedIn. SilverEdge’s areas of expertise include cybersecurity, software and intelligence solutions for the defense and intelligence communities.

CTS, founded in 2015, is based in Reston, Virginia. The company has 57 employees listed on LinkedIn. CTS’s areas of expertise include counterintelligence analysis, insider threat analysis and ServiceNow.

SilverEdge Adds to Its Technology Solutions Portfolio

CTS brings source and counterintelligence analysis, identity intelligence, software development and engineering, and ServiceNow capabilities to SilverEdge, the companies said. In doing so, CTS helps SilverEdge provide cyber, software, intelligence and technology solutions to the U.S. Intelligence Community.

CTS will continue to operate with its current leadership under the SilverEdge platform. CTS also increases SilverEdge’s workforce to approximately 450 engineers and technical staff who support the company’s intelligence customers, SilverEdge CEO Robert Miller said.

SilverEdge Acquires Software Development Platform Provider

The CTS acquisition comes after SilverEdge in October 2022 acquired QVine, which offers a software development platform that complements SilverEdge’s capabilities.

QVine expands SilverEdge’s services and solutions, the companies said. It allows SilverEdge to create an internal technology and software development platform. QVine also allows  SilverEdge to help its intelligence community customers keep pace with cyber threats.

Government IT, ServiceNow M&A Activity Remains Strong

Along with SilverEdge, many companies are exploring mergers and acquisitions in the government IT market. More than 60 government IT M&A deals have been reported dating back to February 2018, and more could be finalized in the months and years to come.

Many ServiceNow partners have been involved in M&A deals over the past few years as well. Since August 2015, at least 65 of these deals have been finalized, and more could be completed in the near future.
