MSSP Acquired: IPKeys Buys N-Dimension Solutions

Intelligent utilities and smart cities technology provider IPKeys Power Partners has acquired N-Dimension Solutions, a Top 200 MSSP for 2019 that supports numerous electric utilities. Moreover, EnerTech Capital, a venture capital firm that specializes in energy innovation, invested in IPKeys.

IPKeys plans to integrate N-Dimension cyber threat detection and remediation capabilities into its Cyber Lab as a Service (CLaaS) cybersecurity services and solutions for North American municipal and public safety organizations, the company said. In addition, N-Dimension will continue to serve its current customers.

CLaaS allows utilities to monitor and report on IT infrastructure, according to IPKeys. It uses the following "3-lane approach" to protect utilities against cyberattacks:

  1. Lock all cyber doors. CLaaS provides penetrating testing, security assurance and other cybersecurity services and solutions to help utilities stop cyberattacks.
  2. Monitor locks and networks. CLaaS offers managed detection and response (MDR), automated vulnerability scanning and other cybersecurity capabilities to help utilities identify and address cyberattacks.
  3. Provide compliance benchmarking with best practices or standards. CLaaS delivers automated cyber compliance backed by SigmaFlow proprietary software to help utilities meet data security guidelines.

CLaaS supports outage management, meter data management and other IT and OT systems for utilities, IPKeys stated. It also can be deployed on-premise using hardware or virtual solutions.

A Closer Look at N-Dimension

N-Dimension provides the N-Sentinel intrusion detection system (IDS) to help organizations address internal and external cyber threats.

Organizations can use N-Sentinel to monitor and scan live network traffic and endpoint devices, N-Dimension indicated. They also can leverage N-Sentinel to access real-time threat intelligence and analyze security data and reports.
