MSSP Acquisition: Open Systems Buys Tiberium

Open Systems, an MSSP and managed detection and response (MDR) services provider, has acquired managed security operations center (SOC) services company Tiberium for an undisclosed sum.

This is technology M&A deal number 1,005 that MSSP Alert and sister site ChannelE2E have covered so far in 2022.

Open Systems, founded in 1990, is based in Zürich, Switzerland. The company has 515 employees listed on LinkedIn. Open Systems’ areas of expertise include secure access service edge (SASE), identity management and advanced persistent threat (APT) protection.

Tiberium, founded in 2018, is based in Clerkenwell, England. The company has 1,622 employees listed on LinkedIn. Tiberium’s areas of expertise include cloud security, cloud monitoring and Microsoft Azure Sentinel.

Open Systems Adds Automation, Collaboration Capabilities

Tiberium provides Open Systems with automation and collaboration capabilities to help organizations “prioritize, decide and act on reducing their risk and mitigating cyber threats faster than ever before,” the companies said. It offers technologies that enable Open Systems security analysts to interact with customers in real time on any device at any time. In addition, Tiberium improves Open Systems customers’ access to SOC resources and information.

Tiberium and Open Systems both have expertise in Microsoft security that they will use to take their “game-changing SecOps model to a global audience,” Tiberium CEO Drew Perry said. The businesses also will maintain their commitment to support Microsoft customers and help them secure their IT environments.

Open Systems Partners with MSSP Patriot Consulting Technology

The Tiberium acquisition comes after Open Systems in October 2022 announced a partnership with Patriot Consulting Technology, an MSSP that specializes in Microsoft security services. Open Systems has incorporated Patriot’s systems integration capabilities into its MDR service to help Microsoft customers improve their security posture and get the most value out of their security technology investments, the companies said.

Open Systems delivers managed security services globally and manages SOCs and network operations centers (NOCs), which provide coverage across nearly 10,000 locations. It also offers a partner program that allows MSSPs and MSPs to integrate its MDR and SASE services into their portfolios.
