Netsurion is doubling down on its MDR (managed detection and response) and master MSSP business initiatives for channel partners -- and therefore selling off its secure edge networking business to Acumera. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

This is technology M&A deal number 522 that MSSP Alert and sister site ChannelE2E have covered so far in 2022.

Netsurion Remains Master MSSP; Acumera Gains Hospitality Technology

Under the agreement, Acumera has acquired Netsurion’s all-in-one managed networking, resilience, compliance and security solution, as well as the development staff, expertise and support personnel associated with Secure Edge Networking. Headcount figures were not disclosed.

In an interview with MSSP Alert, Netsurion CEO Kevin Watson and President A.N. Ananth described how the asset sale will allow Netsurion to further focus and accelerate its MDR business.

Indeed, the Netsurion strategy allows MSPs and MSSPs to tap into an XDR platform that supports customers' and partners' existing security investments and technology stacks. Moreover, Netsurion's Managed Threat Protection platform includes a 24x7 SOC (security operations center) that further mitigates risk for partners and their end-customers, the company indicated.

Netsurion and Acumera: Executive Perspectives on the Deal

In a prepared statement about the secure edge asset sale, Watson added:

“We are glad to see our Secure Edge Networking solution transfer into Acumera’s capable hands. There is a natural synergy there. This strategic move allows our retail, Point-of-Sale (POS), restaurant and hospitality customers to enhance their network capabilities and compliance strategy with Acumera’s leading edge computing solutions. The combination of resources serves as a force multiplier for Acumera’s business.”

Added Bill Morrow, CEO of Acumera:

“Acumera expanded significantly in the retail and hospitality markets earlier this year with the addition of Acumera’s Reliant Platform. With the acquisition of Netsurion’s Secure Edge Networking, we now lead the industry in both edge computing and secure edge networking in those markets. Acumera customers will benefit from enhanced capabilities for Secure Edge Networking and we will bring existing Netsurion customers a broader range of edge computing solutions and applications to make their businesses more efficient.”
