Accenture Buys Managed Security, Cyber Defense Company Real Protect -

Accenture, a global professional services provider with a Top 250 MSSP business unit, has acquired Brazilian managed security and cyber defense services company Real Protect. Accenture also named Real Protect CEO Daniel Lemos to lead its managed security services business in Latin America.

This is M&A deal number 25 that MSSP Alert and sister site ChannelE2E have covered so far in 2021.

Real Protect extends Accenture's Latin American market presence, according to the companies. It supports Accenture's mission to provide cybersecurity solutions in Latin America and accelerate its growth across the region.

A Closer Look at Real Protect

Real Protect is an MSSP that helps organizations simplify IT management and improve IT security, the company indicated. It offers a variety of managed security services, including:

Continuous monitoring of security logs and events
Management of security assets
Security incident response team

Real Protect employs approximately 90 cybersecurity professionals who serve organizations in healthcare, energy, oil and gas and financial services, the company noted. These professionals will join Accenture Security's global cybersecurity workforce.

What Does the Real Protect Acquisition Mean for Accenture?

The Real Protect acquisition is one of several recent moves that helps Accenture expand its global cybersecurity operations.

Accenture in July 2020 partnered with telecommunications company Vodafone Business to deliver cybersecurity and professional services to small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and corporations in Europe. Vodafone and Accenture also made a joint investment in an innovation lab focused on security solutions and intelligence for workplace, cloud, Internet of Things (IoT) and SD-WAN environments.

Furthermore, Accenture in 2020 acquired Symantec's MSSP and security operations center (SOC) organizations business and cybersecurity solutions providers Context Information Security and Revolutionary Security. Those acquisitions support the growth of Accenture Security and help the company deliver managed security services to global organizations.
