Amazon CEO Andy Jassy highlights AI growth and cloud strategy

Amazon Web Services’ Bedrock artificial intelligence inference service is poised for significant expansion as enterprises increasingly adopt multiple models to avoid vendor lock-in, according to information published by CRN.

Amazon CEO Andy Jassy stated that customers want access to diverse AI models without compromising security or control. During the company’s third fiscal quarter earnings call, Jassy noted that Bedrock token volume grew nearly 17-fold year over year, positioning it as the fastest-growing multibillion-dollar service in the history of Amazon Web Services.

AWS reported that sales jumped 39% to $46 billion, marking the sixth consecutive quarter of growth acceleration. To support this demand, Amazon plans to maintain $220 billion in capital expenditures for 2026, focusing on infrastructure and custom silicon like Trainium and Graviton chips. These investments aim to lower inference costs and improve price performance. Jassy emphasized that AWS benefits from a flywheel effect where data storage leads to increased compute and networking consumption. Despite high costs, AI operating margins are improving rapidly.

The company remains focused on long-term platform stability, contrasting its strategy with providers that rely on short-term data center capacity. AWS projects revenue growth exceeding 40% in 2027 and 2028, with expectations to reach $1 trillion in revenue within the next five to 10 years.
