Graylog has purchased the Resurface.io API security platform and released the Graylog API Security platform to help its customers "combat the evolving challenges in the API security landscape," the companies announced.

Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

This is technology M&A deal number 208 that MSSP Alert and sister site ChannelE2E have covered so far in 2023.

Graylog, founded in 2009, is based in Houston, Texas. The company has 108 employees listed on LinkedIn. Graylog's areas of expertise include log management and security information and event management (SIEM).

Resurface, founded in 2019, is based in Boulder, Colorado. The company has 10 employees listed on LinkedIn. Resurface's areas of expertise include API scanning and data capture.

Graylog Strengthens Threat Detection, Incident Response

With Resurface's API security platform, Graylog will establish integration points between its SIEM solution and Resurface's platform, the company stated. These integration points will let Graylog customers capture API traffic data and generate insights into cyberattacks and threats.

Meanwhile, organizations now can use Graylock API Security to detect and respond to API security alerts, the company indicated. The platform's features include:

  • Out-of-the-box security alerts that include explanations and steps tuned to each API
  • Runtime scanning for real-time threat detection
  • Self-contained security data lake and Kubernetes architecture to simplify implementation and management

Commenting on the acquisition of Resurface's API security platform and how it helps his company deliver a purpose-built API security platform, Graylog CEO Andy Grolnick said:

"Integrating Resurface.io's data-driven API security solution with Graylog's award-winning SIEM platform will empower organizations to proactively safeguard their APIs and position Graylog as the only SIEM provider offering an API Security solution."

Resurface founder Rob Dickinson described how his company's API security platform benefits Graylog and its customers:

"Resurface.io's solution takes a SIEM approach to solving the API Threat Detection issue, so there are many synergies. The Resurface API technology and solution will enable Graylog to reach a broader audience, accelerate product advancements, and provide customers unparalleled API ecosystem protection."
