Arbor Networks Unveils APT, DDoS Security Solution for SMBs

Share

Arbor Networks has extended its advanced persistent threat (APT), distributed denial of service (DDoS) and network visibility products and services to small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs). The offerings leverage on-premise appliances, virtualized solutions and Amazon Web Services (AWS).

MSSPs, enterprises and SMBs can use APS to safeguard networks against DDoS threats, according to a prepared statement. The solution can be deployed as an appliance, virtual machine (VM) or AWS instance, Arbor said, and features a "plug & play" design for fast, easy installation.

In addition, APS allows end users to fine-tune their network protections, Arbor stated. It provides a complete view of network activities, Arbor noted, to help users automatically block cyberattacks before they impact critical applications and services.

Arbor Announces APS v5.11

Arbor is no stranger to the DDoS protection market. The company  in June launched APS v5.11, enabling MSSPs to offer multi-layer or hybrid DDoS managed services to their customers. APS v5.11 delivers intelligent integration between on-premises and in-cloud DDoS attack protection, Arbor stated, and is backed by threat intelligence via the company's ATLAS Intelligence Feed.

With APS v5.11, MSSPs can manage multiple user devices and speed up cyberattack detection and mitigation, Arbor said in a prepared statement.

The solution features a console that provides centralized configuration and aggregated views of all user DDoS attack activity, Arbor noted. Also, each console enables MSSPs to manage up to 50 APS devices.

APS today is used to protect enterprise and government networks against known and emerging cyber threats, according to Arbor. The solution automates DDoS attack detection and mitigation, Arbor indicated, and produces reports to help end users understand the root causes of these attacks.

What Is Arbor?

Arbor, the security division of application and network performance management company NETSCOUT, currently supports nine of the 10 largest MSSPs, eight of the 10 largest cloud services providers (CSPs) and 90 percent of Tier 1 service providers. It provides cybersecurity products and services in a variety of areas, including:

  • DDoS protection.
  • Global threat intelligence.
  • Network visibility.

Arbor's offerings enable customers to gain a micro view of their own network and a macro view of global internet traffic and emerging threats, the company stated. That way, customers can analyze DDoS attacks and malware campaigns, Arbor noted, and mitigate the effects of these attacks faster than ever before.
