Bitdefender Launches Advisory Services to Help Businesses Strengthen Cybersecurity Strategy

Bitdefender has rolled out a new suite of cybersecurity advisory services aimed at helping organizations tighten their defenses, close compliance gaps, and make sense of an increasingly fragmented threat landscape. The offering goes beyond technical tools and is designed to help companies step back, assess the bigger picture, and get tailored guidance on the people, processes, and strategic decisions that shape their overall security posture.

Security teams are stretched. Many organizations are facing a double bind: they are being asked to manage expanding risks with tools and tactics that haven’t kept pace, all while struggling to hire or retain specialized talent. Bitdefender’s advisory services attempt to address this by embedding experts directly into a company’s strategy and operations - offering the kind of high-touch support that’s often missing from product-led engagements.

Nicholas Jackson, Director of Cybersecurity Services at Bitdefender told MSSP Alert, says the company is entering the space with a distinct advantage: “Bitdefender is uniquely positioned as a pure-play cybersecurity vendor, with roughly 50% of our workforce dedicated to R&D or Bitdefender Labs. This deep investment in threat research gives us unparalleled insight into the evolving threat landscape and allows us to deliver leading-edge services grounded in real expertise, something many other vendors can’t match.”

Jackson also points to a shift in customer behavior: “We’re seeing increased demand from customers to consolidate vendors and integrate risk and compliance with security operations. By introducing advisory services, we’re building on our existing strengths to deliver even more value to our customer base.”

Three Pillars of the Program

The services fall into three areas:

Strategy and Leadership: For organizations that need help defining direction, Bitdefender offers advisory retainers staffed by seasoned CISOs and consultants. These engagements focus on strengthening leadership, shaping policy frameworks, and aligning metrics and KPIs to real business outcomes. The idea isn’t to take over, but to sharpen internal capabilities and help security teams work with more clarity and focus.

Jackson says bridging the strategy-execution divide is a priority. “Our services are designed to bridge that gap by creating shared visibility across all stakeholders, ensuring everyone is aligned and working toward the same goals. Whether it's assessing the organization against a holistic, industry-recognized framework and delivering insights at both the strategic and operational levels, offering tailored training for key audiences like the board or senior leadership, or improving reporting structures to prevent future misalignment, we provide the tools and services needed to close that disconnect. The goal is to make sure every stakeholder clearly understands their role in the bigger picture.”

Risk and Compliance: Compliance doesn’t exist in a vacuum, especially when companies operate across regions and industries. Bitdefender’s consultants help assess current controls, flag vulnerabilities, and build strategies based on frameworks like ISO 27001, NIST CSF, GDPR, and HIPAA. It’s part risk management, part trust-building—because when compliance is well-handled, partners and customers notice.

Event Preparedness: Security breaches, outages, and natural disasters aren’t just theoretical risks. Bitdefender works with clients to pressure test their readiness with real-world drills, tabletop exercises, and business continuity planning. The goal is to ensure that when something goes wrong, teams don’t freeze, they respond.

These services aren’t just about long-term planning. Many customers are looking for quick, targeted support, especially when facing compliance audits or responding to incidents.

According to Jackson, “A bit of both. Every customer is different, depending on their size, maturity, and industry. We support our customers by helping define long-term strategies to ensure effective and efficient cybersecurity risk management. However, with the growing regulatory landscape and the recent launch of our Compliance Manager module, we’re also seeing a rising number of customers seeking short-term support to identify gaps in their compliance journey.”

He adds that the new services plug in easily with what many clients are already using. “Some of these customers are already using our CSPM+ and Compliance Manager solutions, but due to the broad scope of regulatory requirements, many of which go beyond technological controls, they need additional guidance. Our advisory services also integrate well with existing offerings like MDR and tabletop exercises, where we help customers understand their roles and responsibilities in the event of an incident. That said, several of our advisory services are standalone and designed to fill specific gaps, such as third-party risk management, where additional expertise is often required.”

Why This Matters Now

The gap between what leaders think is happening and what security teams are actually dealing with is growing wider, and it’s not just a perception problem. Bitdefender’s own data shows nearly half of security pros say the talent shortage is getting worse, and burnout is setting in. Meanwhile, many execs still feel confident about their cyber posture. That disconnect slows down decision-making, weakens response plans, and leaves teams stuck in reactive mode.

Bitdefender’s new advisory services land right in that gap. From strategic support, navigating compliance, or pressure testing incident response plan, these services meet enterprises where they are, and can be used on their own or layered into the existing Bitdefender stack, MDR, XDR, compliance tools.
