ESET MDR Promises 20-Minute Incident Response

You know all too well that today’s dynamic threat landscape is one where cybercriminals increasingly target small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs). For many MSSP Alert readers, SMBs are the core customer base — and these MSSPS and MSPS are well attuned to the latest cyber war weapons.

Michal Jankech, vice president of the SMB and MSP segment at ESET, believes that many SMBs are “defenseless due to their lack of expertise, capacity or both, and are simply busy doing their day jobs.”

That's why ESET is rolling out ESET MDR to SMBs via channel partners now, and will be introducing its MDR for MSPs and MSSPs later this year.

ESET MDR: What MSSPs and MSPs Need to Know

Available in select countries as an add-on to ESET PROTECT Enterprise and ESET PROTECT Elite, the new ESET MDR service provides threat monitoring, detection and hunting and incident response.

“ESET MDR will initially be available through VARs (value-added resellers), distributors and NSP (national solution provider) channel partners and will be available for MSPs and MSSPs later in the year,” Jankech told MSSP Alert. “For MSSPs who want to offer enterprise-grade MDR services, ESET’s Detection & Response Ultimate provides complete cyber risk management, robust threat hunting, and world-class ESET expertise on call, available 24/7."

ESET MDR performs its tasks by combining AI-powered automation with human expertise and comprehensive threat intelligence, according to the company. Its always-on security services ensure a bridge for knowledge gaps and relieves pressure on internal security teams. This allows SMBs to focus on their strategic initiatives while freeing up time to address regulatory compliance and related cyber insurance controls.

Noting that ESET serves more than 500,000 SMB customers, Jankech sees tremendous potential in offering an “affordable, scalable MDR service.”

“Our approach significantly reduces the risk of SMBs falling victim to ransomware attacks and other forms of security incidents and can help them meet various compliance regulations,” he said. “Launching ESET MDR for SMBs represents a simple upgrade path for existing customers of our ESET PROTECT Platform, integrating all of our security modules with a 24/7 MDR service, one powered by our long-lasting threat intelligence expertise.”

“20-Minute” Response Time Pledge

ESET says its MDR service is crafted to promptly investigate and disrupt malicious activities and is tailored to meet the challenges of hybrid work environments. By “promptly,” ESET claims that its MDR can detect and respond to threats within a “20-minute time frame.” ESET accomplishes this by using its own cybersecurity technologies to collect unique data, particularly from regions under attack from sophisticated cybercriminal groups.

As an added measure of threat defense, ESET customers have access to a library of predefined patterns and the ability to create custom rules patterns, which trigger appropriate actions in response to both specific detections and suspicious behaviors.

ESET Offers MSP Partner Program, Launches XDR Solution

ESET, which offers an MSP partner program, launched new cloud and extended detection and response (XDR) solutions for MSPs in September 2022. This expansion of the ESET PROTECT Platform included ESET Inspect and ESET Inspect Cloud, allowing MSPs and their business customers to have access to dedicated XDR security solutions.
