Cybersecurity risk management platform provider Outpost24 has purchased Sweepatic, an external attack surface management (EASM) company, for an undisclosed sum.

This is technology M&A deal number 173 that MSSP Alert and sister site ChannelE2E have covered so far in 2023.

Outpost24, founded in 2001, is based in Karlskrona, Sweden. The company has 198 employees listed on LinkedIn. Outpost24's areas of expertise include application security, user password security and vulnerability management.

Sweepatic, founded in 2016, is based in Leuven, Belgium. The company has 21 employees listed on LinkedIn. Sweepatic's areas of expertise include asset discovery, brand protection and shadow IT.

How Sweepatic and Outpost24 are Working Together

Organizations will be able to use Sweepatic's EASM solution in conjunction with Outpost24's security assessment and threat intelligence offering, the companies said. This will allow organizations to view their internal and external attack surface, identify unknown assets and mitigate risks.

Commenting on the benefits of combining his company's platform with Sweepatic's EASM solution, Outpost 24 CEO Karl Thedéen said:

"Combining Sweepatic’s innovative technology with the Outpost24 platform is the best way to prevent likely attacks. As the threat exposure management landscape is shifting to incorporate EASM, we are enhancing our platform's capability to meet the demands of our customers who need 360-degree visibility."

Sweepatic founder Stijn Vande Casteele commented on his company's future following the transaction:

"This acquisition will allow us to accelerate our vision and complement Outpost24's established offering on a global scale as we continue to make a difference by providing organizations with the necessary insight to meet their risk management and compliance needs."

A Closer Look at Outpost24 and Sweepatic

Outpost24 offers cyber risk management with vulnerability management, application security testing, threat intelligence and access management in a single solution, according to the company. It is owned by private equity firm Vitruvian Partners, which acquired Outpost24 in June 2022.

More than 2,500 organizations use Outpost24 cyber risk management solution. Furthermore, Outpost24 offers a partner program for MSSPs, MSPs and other technology providers.

Sweepatic provides an EASM platform that "automates the continuous mapping, analysis and monitoring of all internet-connected assets and risks," the company indicated. This platform delivers attack surface observations to help organizations find ways to minimize their attack surface.

MSSPs, MSPs and other technology providers can integrate Sweepatic's EASM platform into their offerings by joining the company's partner program. Twelvesec, Nviso and Secutech are three of the cybersecurity companies that have partnered with Sweepatic.
