Hornetsecurity, a cloud security services provider, has released VM Backup V9, a new version of its virtual machine (VM) backup, replication and recovery solution.

VM Backup V9 includes Immutable Cloud Storage, which allows end-users to access their data during ransomware attacks, Hornetsecurity said. Immutable Cloud Storage ensures that users' backup data is tamper-proof and cannot be modified or deleted. As such, Immutable Cloud Storage eliminates the need for users to pay cyber ransoms.

In addition, VM Backup V9 offers an interface that lets users control over VMs from a single console, Hornetsecurity noted. It also features a backup repository designed to help users optimize their disk space.

Hornetsecurity Targets QR Code Phishing Attacks

The VM Backup V9 release comes after Hornetsecurity in February 2023 launched QR Code Analyzer and Secure Links tools to help organizations combat fake QR codes that lead to phishing attacks and data breaches.

QR Code Analyzer lets users scan QR codes and find out if they are linked to malicious websites, Hornetsecurity indicated. Meanwhile, SecureLinks runs email links through a secure analyzer before enabling a recipient to open them.

Employee Security Training Offered

Previously, Hornetsecurity in October 2022 launched a security awareness training program to help employees keep pace with current and emerging cyber threats.

The program lets users receive as much training as needed, according to Hornetsecurity. It utilizes Hornetsecurity's Patented Spear Phishing Engine to simulate cyberattacks. The program also leverages the Hornetsecurity's Employee Security Index benchmark to help organizations track employees' progress and measure and assess their workers' security behaviors.

Hornetsecurity provides cloud-based security, compliance, backup, and security awareness solutions to organizations in more than 30 countries. The company offers a partner program that allows MSSPs, MSPs and other technology providers to integrate Hornetsecurity's 365 Total Protection product and others into their portfolios.
