Ironscales, an automated phishing prevention, detection and response platform provider, and MSSP BDO Managed Detection and Response (MDR) are working together to deliver a managed phishing detection and response (MP-DR) solution.

BDO MDR now can leverage the Ironscales platform to reduce the mean time to respond to cyberattacks, the companies pointed out. BDO MDR also can use the Ironscales platform to eliminate the need to perform security investigations.

What Does the Ironscales-BDO MDR Joint Solution Offer?

The Ironscales-BDO MDR joint solution offers the following capabilities:

  • Automatic and managed phishing incident response.
  • Inbound malware protection.
  • Business email compromise (BEC) protection.

Furthermore, the Ironscales-BDO MDR joint solution provides a full restful application programming interface (API) and dashboard to automate and orchestrate phishing email response, the companies noted. It also enables organizations to report phishing to BDO MDR's security operations center (SOC) team and leverage real-time global SOC intelligence to stop cyberattacks.

Ironscales and BDO MDR: What You Need to Know

Ironscales offers a multi-layered advanced phishing threat protection platform that blocks phishing attacks and helps end users detect email attacks, the company said. In addition, the platform combines human intelligence with machine learning and artificial intelligence to automatically prevent, detect and respond to email threats and predict future cyberattacks.

BDO MDR is a division of BDO, which provides professional services in 164 countries. It delivers cybersecurity services designed to help organizations quickly detect and respond to cyberattacks.

MSSP vs. MDR Services

Meanwhile, some cybersecurity companies still insist that MSSPs and MDR providers are separate, distinct service provider categories. MSSP Alert respectfully disagrees.

As Gartner puts it, near term:

“The overlap between managed security services and MDR is increasing, which is adding to the confusion in the market and making it difficult for buyers. MSS and MDR still have distinct characteristics that buyers need to understand.”

Still, that quote comes from 2017. Fast forward to present day, and the line between MSSP & MDR providers are blurred significantly. Dozens of classic MSSP companies have now introduced MDR services.
