LevelBlue Expands Exposure Management for MSSPs and MSPs Through Tenable Integration

LevelBlue is expanding its vulnerability and exposure management capabilities for managed service providers through a deeper integration with Tenable. The new offering, Exposure Management for Partners, is designed to help MSSPs and MSPs move beyond basic vulnerability scans and give customers a clearer view of risk across their environments.

Security teams today are dealing with far more complex environments than they were even a few years ago. Cloud infrastructure, identity systems, operational technology, web applications, and external assets all introduce potential exposure points. Many organizations still rely on separate tools to monitor these areas, which can make it difficult to understand how vulnerabilities connect to real operational risk.

The LevelBlue and Tenable integration aims to give service providers a more flexible way to manage that complexity while tailoring services to different customer needs.

Meeting customers where they are

One of the goals of the partnership is to help service providers adapt vulnerability management services to organizations at different stages of security maturity.

Sagar Patel, LevelBlue Platform Product Manager, told MSSP Alert, “This partnership helps MSSPs and MSPs better meet customers where they are by providing more flexible exposure management options through LevelBlue Exposure Management for Partners. Service providers can now identify and prioritize risks across customer environments while choosing the level of exposure management that best aligns with each customer’s specific needs.”

The integration also strengthens the scanning capabilities within the LevelBlue platform.

“Tenable Vulnerability Scanner embedded within USMA provides a stronger foundation for vulnerability scanning than the previous scanner used in USM,” Patel said. “Key capabilities include automated log ingestion from Tenable Nessus into USMA, on-premises Nessus scanners that replace Joval and can be easily deployed and linked using a key with unlimited instances, and cloud-based Nessus scanners that enable external scanning outside of a customer’s environment.”

Moving from scans to remediation

Running vulnerability scans is common, but acting on the results remains a challenge for many organizations. Security teams often face long lists of findings without a clear way to determine which issues should be addressed first.

According to Patel, Tenable-powered exposure management is designed to help service providers focus remediation efforts where they matter most.

“Tenable-powered exposure management helps partners move beyond basic scanning by enabling a more actionable, risk-based approach to remediation,” Patel said. “Tenable Vulnerability Management, built on Nessus, delivers high-accuracy vulnerability detection, and Nessus logs are automatically pulled into USM to help drive faster remediation efforts.”

Tenable One adds another layer by providing a consolidated view of risk across different systems.

“It provides unified visibility into assets, identities, and exposures across the entire attack surface within a single view,” Patel explained. “Each asset is assigned a Vulnerability Priority Rating, which reflects real-time threat landscape intelligence, and this is combined with the Asset Criticality Rating to calculate an overall Asset Exposure Score. This scoring model helps security teams quickly identify and focus on the most significant risks.”

Patel added that automated remediation workflows can also help streamline the process of fixing vulnerabilities once they are identified.

Packaging exposure management as a managed service

The offering includes capabilities that span cloud infrastructure, identity systems, operational technology, web applications, and external attack surfaces. For service providers, the challenge is often figuring out how to package those capabilities into services customers can adopt over time.

“MSSPs can package these capabilities in a tiered approach that aligns with the maturity and security needs of their customers,” Patel said. “For organizations just starting out, MSSPs can leverage the built-in Tenable scanning capabilities within USM.”

“As customer requirements grow, service providers can upgrade to Tenable Vulnerability Management and add additional capabilities such as web application scanning or attack surface management,” he continued.

“For customers seeking a more comprehensive solution with broader visibility across their environments, including cloud, containers, web applications, and operational technology, MSSPs can offer Tenable One Exposure Management as a bundled solution that provides expanded coverage across the full attack surface.”

Adding context to vulnerability data

Exposure management platforms have become a major focus area across the cybersecurity industry. What often differentiates them is how they combine vulnerability data with broader security context.

“The LevelBlue and Tenable approach differentiates itself by combining deep vulnerability intelligence with integrated security operations context,” Patel said. “Through the integration of the LevelBlue USM platform with Tenable Nessus, MSSPs can view vulnerabilities alongside threat data, giving them greater context when prioritizing remediation efforts.”

“The platform also offers an easy upgrade path that allows MSSPs to expand capabilities over time and select the level of coverage that best fits their clients’ needs.”

For MSSPs and MSPs, the shift toward exposure management reflects a larger change in how vulnerability management is delivered. Instead of simply scanning environments and generating reports, service providers are increasingly expected to help customers understand where risk exists and how it should be addressed. Integrating vulnerability intelligence with operational security data is one way providers are starting to deliver that broader view.
