Core4ce, an MSSP that serves organizations across the national security community, has purchased information assurance and computer security services provider PatchAdvisor for an undisclosed sum.

This is technology M&A deal number 91 that MSSP Alert and sister site ChannelE2E have covered so far in 2023.

Core4ce, founded in 2019, is based in Reston, Virginia. The company has 362 employees listed on LinkedIn. Core4ce's areas of expertise include data management and security.

PatchAdvisor, founded in 2003, is based in Alexandria, Virginia. The company has 10 employees listed on LinkedIn. PatchAdvisor's areas of expertise include vulnerability assessments and penetration testing.

Core4ce Bolsters Its Cybersecurity Services Portfolio

PatchAdvisor will operate under its existing business name as a subsidiary of Core4ce, enabling Core4ce to perform system assessments for government and commercial organizations, the companies stated.

Together, Core4ce and PatchAdvisor provide vulnerability assessment capabilities and defensive cyber expertise, Core4ce CEO Jack Wilmer said. PatchAdvisor allows Core4ce to provide a "full spectrum of cyber services," Wilmer added.

Furthermore, PatchAdvisor's penetration testing capabilities will be integrated into Core4ce's suite of cyber offerings, the companies said. Core4ce's platform will enable PatchAdvisor to scale and service large customer sets as well.

Core4ce Transitions from Small to Large Federal Contractor

The PatchAdvisor acquisition follows a "period of significant growth" for Core4ce that dates back to 2020, Core4ce noted. Some of Core4ce's milestones since 2020 include:

  • Releasing its Cyberscape cyber threat investigation platform
  • Securing more than $500 million in U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) cybersecurity and engineering contracts
  • Launching a commercial data marketplace for government customers
  • Appointing Wilmer, DoD's former CISO, as its CEO.

Core4ce offers cybersecurity, data science and analytics, engineering and operations solutions. The company manages an Innovation Incubator that focuses on developing and launching national security solutions. It does not currently offer a channel partner program but may look to create one in the future.
