MSSP Market News: Check Point Software to Acquire Cyberint

Today’s MSSP Alert Market News:

1. Check Point to Acquire Cyberint: Check Point Software Technologies, a cybersecurity platform provider, has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Cyberint Technologies, a specialist in external risk management solutions. The acquisition will enhance Check Point’s Security Operations Center (SOC) capabilities and expand its managed threat intelligence offerings. Cyberint’s capabilities will be integrated into the Check Point Infinity Platform for collaborative threat prevention and will also be available as a managed service through Check Point Infinity Platform Services, the companies said. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

2. HiddenLayer Names Chief Product Officer: HiddenLayer, a provider of security for AI, has appointed Mike Bruchanski as chief product officer. Bruchanski joins HiddenLayer from Elementary, where he was vice president of product. He held similar roles at Blue Lava where he shaped the product vision and strategy and at Cylance where he managed the company's portfolio of OEM products and partners.

3. AgileBlue Adds Cloud AI to SecOps Platform: AgileBlue, a specialist in AI security operations, has added to its platform with product updates, including cloud and AI enhancements designed to provide mid-size companies and SLED organizations with a robust SecOps platform. “The Cerulean AI SecOps platform empowers organizations with comprehensive cybersecurity delivered through a single-agent and agentless cloud API that significantly reduces cyber risks to cloud and networks," Steve Smith, AgileBlue chief technology officer, said in a statement.

4. Fortinet Enhances SASE Solution: Fortinet, a global cybersecurity company specializing in the convergence of networking and security, has added sovereign SASE and generative AI capabilities to its unified SASE solution. Fortinet Unified SASE provides complete integration between Fortinet’s Secure SD-WAN solution and cloud-delivered security service edge (SSE) under a single console for seamless management, visibility and security, the company said.

5. Fastly Delivers Bot Research: Fastly, an edge cloud platform provider, has released the results of its new survey, “Bot Wars: How Bad Bots are Hurting Businesses,” which revealed 59% of IT professionals reported an increase in bot attacks over the past year, with significant incidents costing companies an average of $2.9 million. Malware distribution bots were the most common reported threat, affecting 49% of organizations, followed by web scrapers and click fraud bots (tied at 44%), DDoS bots and spam bots (tied at 41%), Fastly reports.

6. ThreatQuotient Platform Available in AWS: ThreatQuotient, a security operations platform provider, announced that its Threat Intelligence Platform is now available in AWS Marketplace, a digital catalog with thousands of software listings from independent software vendors that run on Amazon Web Services, the company said.

7. Bugcrowd Hires Chief Product Officer: Bugcrowd, a specialist in crowdsourced security, has hired Braden Russell as chief product officer. Russell joins Bugcrowd from CrowdStrike where he was the chief technology officer of the Falcon Platform and Next-Gen Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) solution. Russell also oversaw the vision and strategy for CrowdStrike’s first Security Cloud, the company said.

8. Hillstone Debuts New Operating System: Hillstone Networks, a cybersecurity solutions company, has launched the latest version of its operating system, StoneOS 5.5R11. This update includes more than 200 new functionalities and improvements designed to enhance threat protection and facilitate enterprise network operations in an increasingly complex and demanding environment. Key features of StoneOS 5.5R11 include Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA) for intranet, integration with Azure Active Directory (AD), support for Transport Layer Security (TLS) 1.3 encryption and Restful APIs, threat prevention based on HTTP/2 and HTTP/3, SLA-based WAN route control, and improved policy management, the company said.

9. Will Outage Affect CrowdStrike Earnings?: CrowdStrike's earnings report on Wednesday will offer a first look at the financial implications of the global cyber outage that paralyzed Microsoft Windows operating system last month. Shares of the company have declined about 20% since the outage, wiping about $20 billion from its market value. Meanwhile, SentinelOne and Palo Alto Networks have gained 25.4% and 8.3%, respectively.
