MSSP Market News: LevelBlue Plans New Security Services

At MSSP Alert Live on Tuesday, LevelBlue said that it would roll out several new security services designed for the cybersecurity service provider market.

Today’s MSSP Update

1. LevelBlue adds four new services - At MSSP Alert Live yesterday cybersecurity provider LevelBlue announced four security services to open new growth opportunities for MSSPs and MSPs that are looking to add security services. The services include Managed Threat Detection and Response, Incident Response Retainer, Vulnerability Management, and Managed Endpoint Security, which will become available in Q1 2025 as part of a new partner program. LevelBlue is a provider of managed network security services, managed detection and response, strategic consulting, and threat intelligence. More on this story coming soon.

2. Lookout targets smishing and executive impersonation fraud texts - Lookout’s most recent features for Lookout Mobile Endpoint Security target two fast-growing advanced social engineering tactics – smishing (SMS phishing) and executive impersonation fraud texts. The features address two big problems revealed by the Lookout Threat Landscape Report, in Q2 2024. There was a 70% year-over-year increase in mobile phishing and malicious web content and a 40.4% uptick in enterprise mobile phishing attempts and malicious web attacks.

3. Vendor partnership - Risk intelligence platform Supply Wisdom and third-party cyber risk management organization SecurityScorecard are partnering to offer SecurityScorecard customers enhanced third-party risk management (TPRM) and operational risk and resilience program help.

4. Most active ransomware group - RansomHub was the most active ransomware group, accounting for 173 of attacks, according to Halcyon’s Ransomware Malicious Quartile (RMQ) for Q3 2024 report. The report also found that Meow and Qilin are two emerging groups with top ransomware activity in August.  

5. Malicious apps in Google Play store - Zscaler’s ThreatLabz 2024 Mobile, IoT, and OT Threat Report identified more than 200 malicious apps in the Google Play Store, with more than 8 million collective installs.  This report also stresses the urgency of reevaluating and securing mobile devices.

6. CMMC tools - Summit 7 has released guidance to help contractors prepare for the Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) ruling. The company recommends its CMMC Pathfinder Tool. The company is also offering tools to help organizations move fast and also to get help gaining leadership buy-in.

7. GenAI and Ransomware - Hornetsecurity’s annual Ransomware Survey reveals growing concerns around generative AI-powered attacks and a significant gap in preparedness. Two-thirds of respondents indicated that AI has increased their apprehension about potential attacks.
