SentinelOne Data Analytics Counters Splunk, Extends Beyond Security Use Cases -

SentinelOne has released DataSet, a cloud-based analytics solution that allows users to process large amounts of live or historical data in real time and at petabyte scale. The launch suggests SentinelOne may be seeking to push beyond cybersecurity use cases while competing head-on against Splunk, among other potential rivals.

Among DataSet's key capabilities, SentinelOne said that the system can:

Eliminate schema requirements from the data ingestion process and index limitations from querying.
Simultaneously process data and deliver log management, data analytics and alerting capabilities.
Ingest petabytes of data from any source at high throughput.
Enables users to execute concurrent data searches and deliver results at machine speed in milliseconds.

Users can store data indefinitely via DataSet-hosted or customer-managed storage.

Along with releasing DataSet, SentinelOne has named Rahul Ravulur as its GM for the platform. Ravulur has more than 25 years of experience in building and operating enterprise products at scale. He most recently worked with Splunk and supported the company's product management and strategy. Ravulur also cofounded AppOrbit, an application platform provider, and has held leadership roles at VMware and BMC Software.

What Does DataSet Mean for SentinelOne?

DataSet expands the capabilities of SentinelOne's Singularity XDR platform. The platform could help SentinelOne further extend its XDR market reach.

Previously, SentinelOne announced a partnership with Barracuda Networks in January 2022. The company continues to explore opportunities to enhance its XDR platform and build partnerships with MSSPs.
