Silverfort Extends NHI Security to the Cloud, Unifying Identity Protection

Silverfort has expanded its non-human identity (NHI) security capabilities to include cloud-based identities, aiming to provide a unified identity security platform that spans on-premises infrastructure and modern cloud environments. The enhancement builds on Silverfort’s acquisition of Rezonate in late 2024 and marks a continuation of its effort to address security gaps across hybrid IT environments by consolidating visibility and control over both human and non-human identities.

Non-human identities—including service accounts, tokens, API keys, IAM roles, and more—are foundational to system and application operations but are often deployed without proper lifecycle management or oversight. Many organizations inadvertently increase their risk by syncing these accounts to SaaS directories, leaving dormant or misconfigured identities exposed. Silverfort addresses this by integrating NHI discovery, ownership mapping, and activity monitoring into its core Identity Security Platform, providing policy automation and actionable risk insights to close these security gaps.

The platform uses behavioral analytics and context-driven analysis to enforce least-privilege access, block unauthorized lateral movement, and automate real-time protection across hybrid infrastructure. With its Runtime Access Protection (RAP) technology, Silverfort supports enforcement without disrupting existing identity systems like Active Directory, Entra ID, and cloud-native platforms such as AWS and Azure. This allows security teams to apply unified policies and remediation workflows across previously disconnected systems and identity types.

With NHIs now estimated to outnumber human identities by a significant margin—especially with the growth of AI agents and automation—Silverfort’s expanded offering comes at a time when organizations need to prioritize end-to-end identity security.
