SonicWall is broadening its cybersecurity platform with the launch of nine new Generation 8 firewalls, updated management capabilities, and integrated Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA). The release is aimed squarely at Managed Service Providers (MSPs), Managed Security Service Providers (MSSPs), and their customers, giving them a unified, service-friendly security stack that can be delivered on a recurring revenue model.

Simplifying Multi-Tenant Security Delivery

Michael Crean, SVP of Managed Services at SonicWall, told MSSP Alert that the update was designed to make multi-tenant security delivery easier and faster for partners.

"The new Unified Management console gives MSPs and MSSPs a single pane of glass to manage policies, monitor health, and enforce zero-trust controls across hundreds or even thousands of customers. By automating policy pushes and removing the need for siloed dashboards, partners can reduce operational overhead, strengthen their customers’ security posture, and onboard clients in minutes instead of days," Crean said. The inclusion of native ZTNA in every Generation 8 firewall means secure access is available from day one without adding point products.

Shifting from Hardware Sales to Security Outcomes

Crean also emphasized that the shift is about more than hardware.

"Built-in ZTNA changes the conversation from selling firewalls to providing secure connectivity as a service," Crean said. With co-managed SonicSentry services, partners get 24/7 monitoring, patching, and compliance reporting without the cost and complexity of running their own SOC. The embedded cyber warranty, which provides up to $200,000 in coverage, adds financial assurance that customers increasingly expect.

“Together, these capabilities enable partners to lead with risk reduction and resilience, not just hardware,” he said, noting the potential for higher margins, stronger relationships, and predictable recurring revenue.

Flexible Billing to Drive Growth and Retention

That recurring revenue is also supported by a more flexible billing model. MPSS subscriptions are now offered on a monthly basis with no minimums or long-term commitments, removing capital expense hurdles for customers and speeding up deal cycles.

Crean said this flexibility improves attach rates and gives partners a predictable revenue stream, while integrated service bundles that include firewall, ZTNA, management, and the cyber warranty create an offer that’s hard to match. For partners, he added, the payoff is both financial and strategic: better margins, differentiated services, and long-term customer retention.
