TD Synnex is strategically expanding its focus on physical AI through the planned acquisition of specialist distributor BlueStar and a new distribution agreement with industrial robotics manufacturer Kuka. According to CRN, these moves aim to capitalize on the convergence of operational technology (OT) and information technology (IT).
The acquisition of BlueStar, a specialist in logistics and manufacturing with a portfolio including barcode scanners and printers, will enhance TD Synnex's offerings in North America, Europe, and Latin America. CEO Patrick Zammit stated that BlueStar will operate as a specialized unit, leveraging TD Synnex's IT portfolio and financial resources to accelerate growth. Concurrently, the distribution agreement with Kuka in Europe and North America extends TD Synnex's physical AI strategy into the robotics sector, addressing Kuka's need for a simplified market approach.
Zammit emphasized that physical AI is a high priority, with these initiatives providing the necessary tools for success. The company is also exploring opportunities in the space technology industry and developing FinOps services for AI, drawing parallels to the early days of cloud adoption. TD Synnex aims to support its channel partners in navigating the evolving AI landscape, including security and governance aspects, while ensuring its own operations balance risk and innovation.
