HyperSphere Technologies has launched its Data Neutralization Appliance for AWS, extending technology previously used in military and defense environments to commercial customers. Available through AWS Marketplace as an Amazon Machine Image, the software is designed to protect unstructured data stored in AWS and other S3-compatible environments.HyperSphere DNA segments, distributes, and encrypts data using AES-256-GCM encryption and temporary key derivation. The encryption keys are created when needed and then deleted rather than stored or transmitted. HyperSphere says this approach is intended to prevent attackers from accessing readable data even when they successfully exfiltrate files from object storage.The appliance works across cloud, on-premises, and edge environments without requiring customers to rewrite their applications. HyperSphere has also completed the AWS Foundational Technical Review, which assesses products against AWS requirements covering security, reliability and operational practices. Customers can access a 30-day trial through AWS Marketplace, with enterprise pricing and deployment support available from the company.For MSSPs, the launch could support managed data protection and ransomware resilience services for customers running sensitive workloads in object storage. The larger opportunity will depend on how easily providers can manage the product across multiple customer environments, connect it with existing monitoring and incident response tools, and package it into a service with workable licensing and margins
