Kaspersky's experts have analyzed the digital interests and online activities of children in the Middle East, identifying the most popular platforms and highlighting cybersecurity threats they may encounter. The analysis covers the first eight months of 2026, following a report by TahawulTech.
YouTube, TikTok, and WhatsApp were the most used mobile applications by children in the region. Multiplayer online games like Roblox and communication platforms such as Discord also ranked high among popular online resources. Kaspersky experts warn that children are vulnerable to malicious actors on these platforms, particularly in multiplayer games where direct communication is possible. These actors may use deception and manipulation for online grooming, aiming to obtain personal information, arrange meetings, or use shared content for blackmail.
Emerging risks include the use of generative AI and deepfakes for cyberbullying, which can impact a child's digital reputation. Kaspersky advises parents to educate children about online dangers, encourage them not to interact with strangers or share sensitive information, and maintain open communication. The company also recommends using parental control tools like Kaspersky Safe Kids to enhance child online safety.
