Reach Security launches network security assurance to find firewall and network misconfigurations

Reach Security has launched Network Security Assurance, a new offering built to help security teams continuously find and fix misconfigurations across firewalls, SASE, and other network security controls. The company said the product is designed to show how network controls are configured, enforced, and drifting over time, then prioritize the gaps that create real exposure.

The launch comes as network security environments become harder to manage. Security teams are now dealing with firewalls, WAFs, SASE, SD-WAN, EDR firewalls, and other enforcement points, each with its own rules, policies, and profiles. As those settings change, stale rules, shadowed rules, overly broad access, and weak security profiles can build up inside the environment without being easy to spot.

Reach pointed to its own research and customer telemetry to frame the problem. In a recent study, 42% of security professionals reported a breach or near miss tied to firewall misconfigurations, making firewalls the most frequently cited source of configuration-related exposure. Reach also said the average customer sees 13 drift alerts per day, with 12 tied to risk-prioritized security exposure. For security teams, that means misconfiguration risk is not a once-a-quarter audit issue. It is showing up daily in the systems that control access and traffic.

Network Security Assurance is built to validate whether controls are aligned with security intent, detect drift and hidden exposure, and guide or automate remediation. Attackers can now move faster when probing network paths and looking for weak configurations, so defenders need a more continuous way to understand where their controls are failing. For partners and security teams, the opportunity is around reducing the manual work of rule reviews while keeping firewall and network policy enforcement closer to the organization’s actual risk profile.
