StorMagic and Mako Networks have launched a new edge infrastructure offering designed for channel partners to resell to distributed retail businesses. This collaboration integrates highly available local infrastructure with secure, cloud-managed networking, targeting sectors like convenience stores, fuel retailers, and quick-service restaurants, as first reported by Channeldive. The joint solution combines StorMagic's SvHCI hyperconverged infrastructure software with Mako's networking platform. It aims to provide 24/7 application availability for retail locations that typically lack on-site IT staff. In one configuration, StorMagic's virtual witness can run on a Mako virtual machine, ensuring applications remain operational if a physical server fails. Mako provides the surrounding networking layer, including remote visibility, security, management, and network redundancy. This offering comes as VMware customers are increasingly considering migrations to alternative platforms following Broadcom's acquisition and subsequent changes to product bundling and partner programs. The companies emphasize that channel partners will lead the customer relationship and solution deployment, with flexibility in how managed services are integrated. Mako's platform also offers features for PCI compliance and segmented access, simplifying the process for multi-site environments.Source: Channeldive
