Digital Defense, a security assessment solutions provider, has integrated its Frontline Vulnerability Manager (VM) platform with the ForeScout Technologies CounterACT network access control software.

The integration provides Digital Defense and ForeScout joint customers with visibility across managed and unmanaged devices, network assessments and automation of workflow processes and policies, according to a prepared statement.

How Does the Digital Defense-ForeScout Integration Work?

Together, Digital Defense and ForeScout provide real-time assessment, host analysis and policy-based mitigation of endpoint security risks, the companies stated.

The Digital Defense-ForeScout integration blocks or quarantines endpoints with critical vulnerabilities and delivers on-demand security scans based on CounterACT policies, the companies indicated. It also consolidates threat intelligence across Frontline VM and CounterACT.

What Are Frontline VM and CounterACT?

Frontline VM is a vulnerability management-as-a-service (VMaaS) platform that integrates with security information and event management (SIEM) and security workflow management systems. It also is integrated with the Frontline RNA vulnerability scanner and offers network and host assessments.

Furthermore, Frontline VM includes Frontline Security GPA, a security rating scorecard that identifies and ranks vulnerabilities. Frontline Security GPA provides a "relative" score as vulnerabilities are assessed and offers remediation recommendations.

CounterACT leverages agentless technology to discover, classify and assess connected devices across an organization's network. It enables security teams to analyze an organization's device security posture and create context-aware policies for its network-connected devices.

Security teams can use CounterACT to limit access to appropriate resources and find and repair endpoint security gaps, according to ForeScout. In addition, CounterACT enables security teams to notify users of policy violations, restrict, block or quarantine non-compliant or compromised devices and assign devices to network segments.

A Closer Look at Digital Defense and ForeScout

Digital Defense offers vulnerability scanning, penetration testing and security awareness training solutions. Also, managed service providers (MSPs), MSSPs and value-added resellers (VARs) can offer Digital Defense's Frontline products to analyze, prioritize and remediate customer security risks.

ForeScout provides a network security platform for enterprises, government agencies and other organizations. The company has integrated its network security platform with more than 70 security technologies, including the Carbon Black endpoint protection solution.
