Fortinet has launched the Security Awareness and Training service to help organizations teach their workers about cybersecurity, according to a prepared statement.

Security Awareness and Training offers access to the Fortinet Training Institute, which provides cybersecurity certification and training through various programs, the company said. As such, the service allows organizations to educate their employees about sophisticated cyber threats and how to protect against them.

In addition, Security Awareness and Training delivers cybersecurity training backed by FortiGuard Labs threat intelligence, Fortinet noted. This ensures organizations can use the training to learn how to keep pace with evolving cyber threats.

Security Awareness and Training also was developed in accordance with NIST 800-50 and NIST 800-16 guidelines, Fortinet stated. Organizations can use the service to teach their employees about these data security standards and how to comply with them.

Fortinet Announces Cybersecurity Training Initiatives

The Security Awareness and Training launch comes after Fortinet in September 2021 announced plans to provide cybersecurity skills training to 1 million people globally over the next five years via its Training Advancement Agenda (TAA) initiatives and Network Security Experts (NSE) Training Institute programs. Previously, the Biden administration and private sector leaders in August 2021 launched initiatives to address the worldwide cybersecurity skills shortage.

Along with Security Awareness and Training, Fortinet offers several cybersecurity skills development offerings, such as:

  • NSE Certification Program: Consists of an eight-level training and certification program to provide technical professionals with independent validation of their network security skills and experience.
  • Information Security Awareness and Training Service: Educates users about phishing, social engineering, ransomware attacks and other current and emerging cyber threats.
  • Operational Technology Security Course: Provides training and certifications for anyone exploring a career in OT security roles in alignment with National Initiative for Cybersecurity Education (NICE) cybersecurity workforce roles.

Fortinet also offers free NSE cybersecurity training courses and an Education Outreach Program that encourages global leaders to work together to address cybersecurity issues.
