LinQuest, a national space security company, is partnering with zero trust security solutions provider SpiderOak to protect space mission systems for government and commercial organizations, according to a prepared statement.

Partnership Secures Spacecraft Orbits

The partnership provides LinQuest’s customers with access to SpiderOak’s OrbitSecure zero trust security software, the companies said. OrbitSecure utilizes secure data compartments (SDCs) to let users store or transmit information anywhere. As such, LinQuest’s customers can leverage OrbitSecure to maintain the integrity and confidentiality of their data and systems, the companies noted.

Furthermore, LinQuest will test and assess the security, performance and scalability of OrbitSecure for space assets in its LinQlab engineering, test and integration lab, the company said. It also will continue to explore new opportunities to work with SpiderOak to “provide essential technology solutions,” LinQuest SVP of Corporate Development Joe Dodd said.

SpiderOak Adds Series C Funding, Partners with TriSept

The LinQuest partnership comes after SpiderOak in January 2023 secured $16.4 million in a Series C funding round. SpiderOak is using this funding to complete on-orbit testing and achieve flight heritage of OrbitSecure 2.0, the company stated.

SpiderOak also plans to set up its headquarters in Reston, Virginia and develop a space cybersecurity laboratory for hardware in the loop qualification testing for OrbitSecure and custom mission partner solutions.

Previously, SpiderOak in December 2022 joined forces with TriSept, a launch integration and mission management services specialist. The partnership allows SpiderOak and TriSept to provide an end-to-end security system to protect commercial and government organizations and ground operations from intentional interference and attacks, the companies indicated.

SpiderOak offers products built on a foundation of zero trust encryption and distributed ledger technologies. To date, SpiderOak has been awarded contracts by the U.S. Defense Innovation Unit and other government agencies. Meanwhile, SpiderOak does not currently offer a partner program for MSSPs and MSPs but may look to develop and launch one in the future.
