MSPs Applied Tech, Platte River Networks Announce Merger

MSPs Applied Tech and Platte River Networks are merging to create a "strategic IT powerhouse" for small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs), according to a prepared statement.

This is technology M&A deal number 1,040 that MSSP Alert and sister site ChannelE2E have covered so far in 2022.

Applied Tech, founded in 1994, is based in Madison, Wisconsin. The company has 94 employees listed on LinkedIn. Applied Tech's areas of expertise include managed security services and cloud technologies.

Platte River Networks, founded in 2022, is based in Denver, Colorado. The company has 50 employees listed on LinkedIn. Platte River Networks' areas of expertise include IT support and technical services.

Applied Tech and Platte River Networks Will Serve Organizations Across the US

Platte River Networks will start operating under the Applied Tech brand in early 2023, the companies said. Together, Applied Tech and Platte River Networks have combined annual revenue exceeding $34 million and have reported decade of year-over-year double-digit growth.

Meanwhile, Applied Tech will maintain a team of 150 employees located in 23 states who will support customers' IT infrastructure and staff. In addition, Applied Tech will employ more than 100 technology engineers, specialists and technicians and a cybersecurity team led by a chief security officer.

Also, Applied Tech will utilize Platte River Networks' capabilities to establish "a broader and deeper reach into the SMB market nationwide," the companies said. Applied Tech will continue to work with Ingram Micro, Microsoft, Dell, Lenovo and other technology partners as well.

A Closer Look at Applied Tech

Applied Tech offers fully managed and co-managed IT services to help organizations improve their infrastructure and become more efficient, the company stated. It provides several IT security services, including:

  • Security risk assessments
  • Incident response
  • Regulatory compliance

More than 12,400 IT professionals use Applied Tech's managed IT services every day, according to the company. Applied Tech does not currently offer a channel partner program but may look to provide one in the future.
