As MSSPs and MSPs become the security backbone for enterprises and SMBs alike, they’re under increasing pressure to ensure their customers’ IT environments – which these days are more widely distributed, with cloud computing, the Internet of Things (IoT), and remote work policies – can withstand today’s pervasive and sophisticated cyberthreats.
The challenges are not unlike what CISOs have to manage; so like CISOs, MSPs need access to the right cybersecurity tools, according to
Cheryln Chin, senior vice president of business development for
Absolute Security, a Seattle-based company that specializes in cyber resilience.
“The role of MSPs is rapidly evolving as customers look to them not only for cost efficiency and operational support, but also as trusted advisors who can deliver resilience and security outcomes in a complex threat landscape,” Chin told MSSP Alert, emphasizing that they’re now expected to anticipate risk, ensure compliance, help with post-incident recovery, and provide enterprise-grade protection at scale.
“This shift changes what MSPs and MSSPs need from partners like Absolute Security. It’s no longer enough to offer point products They need integrated platforms that reduce operational burden, simplify management, and deliver measurable resilience.”
Spreading the Resilience Goodness
Absolute Security has spent the past few years broadening how MSSPs and MSPs can use its Absolute Resilience Platform, extending access to its endpoint, access, and application security offerings for devices, data, connectivity, and applications - along with other products now available through online marketplaces.
In November 2024, the company announced availability of its Absolute Secure Endpoint tool on
Amazon Web Services (AWS) Marketplace, and earlier this month, its Resilience Platform was made available
on CrowdStrike Marketplace.
The company's Resilience Platform for MSPs is now integrated with ConnectWise RMM remote monitoring and management tool on the ConnectWise Asio IT management platform for MSPs and available via the ConnectWise Marketplace. Absolute worked with ConnectWise to develop the MSP-focused resilience product that was launched in May.
Chin also highlighted that the vendor is committed to expanding its presence for global enterprises. "We want to expand our presence through a go-to-market strategy that leverages partners, marketplaces, and MSPs. Our ConnectWise integration, along with recent inclusions in CrowdStrike, AWS, and FedRAMP, demonstrates the rapid progress we are making in these areas,” Chin said.
Challenges to MSSPs and MSPs
Cyberthreats are ramping in number and sophistication, which according to
Neeraj Annachhatre, senior global product marketing manager for Absolute, poses a set of challenges for MSPs and MSSPs.
“Remote work policies, sophisticated threats such as ransomware, and a widespread shortage of cybersecurity professionals are driving organizations to outsource IT management and security processes,” Annachhatre
wrote in a blog post in May about the Resilience Platform for MSPs.
Annachhatre listed a range of challenges facing MSSPs and MSPs, including irregular endpoint visibility, too many tools, maintaining critical security controls, and protecting sensitive data, along with responding to security incidents.
From Products to Platforms
These challenges are driving service providers to move away from point products to tightly integrated platforms and offerings, changing what they need from vendors, according to Chin.
“MSPs need new ways to differentiate and stand out in a crowded, fast-changing market,” she said, noting that through Absolute, “they can offer something both new and needed – resilience-as-a-service. This approach embeds self-healing security, endpoint visibility, and compliance controls directly into their offerings.”
With this, MSPs can move beyond traditional protection to deliver continuous uptime, faster recovery, and greater assurance to customers. It also reduces support overhead, accelerates onboarding, and enables confident, scalable growth, Chin said.
In addition, it fills other needs, which include working with vendors that align to their service delivery models and support recurring revenue growth.
Absolute's partnership with ConnectWise that includes platform integrating with Asio and making it available on the ConnectWise Marketplace, helps MSPs and MSSPs to better address their clients’ demands.
“In today's digital ecosystem, CISOs face ransomware, data breaches, and complexity-driven incidents that can cause prolonged disruptions and negatively impact their bottom lines,” she said. “With Absolute Security, MSPs will have a quick and efficient way to integrate advanced capabilities that help ensure their customers’ endpoints remain defended and resilient in the modern threat landscape.”
