The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) has awarded a $112 million prime task order to Accenture Federal Services (AFS), a subsidiary of Top 250 MSSP and global IT consulting firm Accenture. With the order, AFS will be tasked with protecting Federal Civilian Executive Branch (FCEB) systems against cyberattacks, according to a prepared statement.

AFS will deliver cyber services to help FCEB agencies mitigate the effects of ransomware, botnets, malware and other cyberattacks, the company said. In addition, AFS will provide these agencies with visibility into cyber threats.

Furthermore, AFS will partner with Cloudflare, a web performance and security company and CISA Task Order team member. AFS and Cloudflare together will explore ways to protect federal government systems against cyberattacks and contain breaches.

AFS's CISA Task Order will run for a base period of one year. It also includes four one-year options.

Accenture Makes Cybersecurity Investments

AFS's CISA Task Order comes after Accenture previously made several cybersecurity investments in 2021, including:

  • Prevailion: Accenture in May 2021 invested in Prevailion, which provides organizations with insights into new, active and historical attacks across their networks.
  • Openminded: Accenture in April 2021 purchased Openminded, an MSSP that provides governance and identity, offensive and defensive security and other cybersecurity services.
  • Real Protect: Accenture in January 2021 acquired Real Protect, a Brazilian managed security and cyber defense services company.

Accenture also is a Top 250 Public Cloud MSP. The company has acquired more than 70 IT consulting companies and technology businesses since 2019. Most of the deals involve big data analytics, cloud services, cybersecurity, digital transformation and related services.
