Carbon Black, the application control, endpoint detection and response and next-generation antivirus technology provider, has appointed Tom Kellermann as its chief cybersecurity officer.
Kellermann is expected to expand Carbon Black's product and go-to-market initiatives and work across the company's sales, marketing, product and threat teams, according to a prepared statement.
Kellermann brings more than 20 years of cybersecurity and cyber intelligence experience to Carbon Black.
The Road to Carbon Black
Prior to joining Carbon Black, Kellermann founded Strategic Cyber Ventures, a cybersecurity investment fund that specializes in the transfer of cybersecurity capabilities from the U.S. and Israeli intelligence communities. In addition, he served as chief cybersecurity officer at enterprise data security solutions company Trend Micro; in this role, Kellerman was responsible for the analysis of emerging cybersecurity threats and relevant defense technologies.
Furthermore, Kellerman previously served as vice president of security at access control systems and penetration testing firm Core Security and was deputy chief information security officer for the World Bank Treasury. He also held a seat on the Commission on Cybersecurity under President Obama.
Kellermann "perfectly matches" Carbon Black's mission to balance innovative technology, security and evangelism, CEO Patrick Morley said. Going forward, Kellermann will drive innovation across the core architecture of the company's Cb Predictive Security Cloud threat analytics platform and within its Cb Defense, Cb Response and Cb Protection cybersecurity solutions.
