eSentire Hires Channel, Marketing Executives for MDR, XDR Security Expansion -

eSentire, a Top 250 MSSP and Top 40 MDR (managed detection and response) service provider, has made two key hires to drive global channel partner and marketing initiatives, and continued expansion from MDR to XDR (eXtended Detection & Response) security services.

The eSentire hires include:

Digital Defense veteran Bob Layton as chief channel officer; and

Herjavec Group veteran Erin McLean as chief marketing officer.

The career moves surface only a few weeks after HelpSystems acquired Digital Defense, and private equity firm Apax Partners acquired Herjavec Group.

eSentire MDR Business Growth, Evolution

eSentire, founded in 2001, has experienced rapid growth through at least early 2020 -- though MSSP Alert doesn't have more recently growth figures, and profitability figures are undisclosed. The company positions its MDR services as a next-generation alternative to traditional MSSP services.

Recent eSentire moves include:

hiring Verizon Cybertrust veteran Bryan Sartin as chief services officer;

partnering with UiPath to offer policy automation across Microsoft security services; and

launching a Cloud Automation Security Assistant for Microsoft security products.

Although eSentire is well-known in the MDR market, the company also faces growing competition from independent software vendors (ISVs), MSSPs and MDR companies that have introduced various detection and response services.
