Fortinet has acquired ZoneFox, a Scottish threat detection and response solutions provider, for an undisclosed sum. The company will integrate ZoneFox's cloud-based insider threat detection and response technology into its security information and event management (SIEM) and endpoint security offerings, according to a prepared statement.The ZoneFox acquisition provides Fortinet customers with the following security capabilities:Visibility into endpoints and associated data flow and user behavior. Machine learning capabilities to distill billions of security events per day. Cloud-based architecture that captures data around user, device, resource, process and behavior. Forensics timeline recording of information and a search interface that helps security analysts determine how to improve an organization's security posture. Zero-configuration agent, along with the ability to scale up to support over 10,000 agents. Out-of-the-box support for the European Union (EU) General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and other data security mandates. Furthermore, Fortinet customers can leverage ZoneFox technology to detect anomalous behavior across on-premises and cloud environments, the company said. They also can use ZoneFox technology to speed up insider threat identification and response.Total revenue of $441.3 million, up 21 percent year over year. Product revenue of $166.3 million, which represented a 17 percent year-over-year increase. Generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) net income of $49.3 million, compared to $23 million one year earlier. Fortinet has projected its total revenue will fall between $445 million and $455 million in 3Q18, and the company is expected to announce its 3Q18 financial results on November 1.
