Okta has unveiled Identity Threat Protection with Okta AI, an
Okta Workforce Identity Cloud product that delivers real-time detection and response for identity-based threats.
The company announced Identity Threat Protection at its
Oktane23 conference, which is taking place October 3-5 in San Francisco, California.
What Identity Threat Protection for Okta AI Offers
Identity Threat Protection uses artificial intelligence (AI) and insights pulled from an organization's security stack to extend security "beyond initial authentication to any time a user is logged in," according to Okta. It allows administrators and security teams to assess user risk throughout active sessions and automatically respond to identity threats across their ecosystem.
Here are the Identity Threat Protection capabilities:
- Continuous risk evaluation enforces security policies both at login and during an active user session.
- Shared signals pipeline allows security teams to detect and respond to threats between different security technologies, including mobile device management (MDM), cloud access security broker (CASB) and endpoint detection and response (EDR) solutions.
- Adaptive actions consist of targeted actions to respond to threats.

Identity Threat Protection will be available in limited early access in the first quarter of 2024, Okta noted.
Okta Invests in Cybersecurity Workforce Development
Along with its Identity Threat Protection announcement, Okta has launched an initiative focused on finding and developing cybersecurity talent and providing equitable access to careers in technology.
As part of its efforts, Okta is committing $1.6 million in philanthropic grants from the Okta Good Fund to organizations that can provide technology career opportunities to women, people of color, veterans and other jobseekers from underrepresented communities, the business said. Also, Okta is providing 5,000 educational grants to unemployed professionals who want to transition to a career in cybersecurity. This initiative focuses on veterans, military spouses and tech workers who have been impacted by recent layoffs, Okta stated.
