Omega Systems has launched Smart Secure Edge, a managed Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) solution that brings cloud-native security and connectivity together for today’s hybrid and distributed businesses.

Moving Beyond Legacy Boundaries

Cloud adoption has reshaped how businesses connect, collaborate, and secure their environments. As remote and hybrid workforces become the norm, traditional perimeter defenses like VPNs and firewalls can no longer keep pace.

Ben Tercha, COO of Omega Systems, told MSSP Alert that Smart Secure Edge marks “a natural evolution of Omega’s managed security portfolio, moving protection beyond the traditional brick-and-mortar perimeter to wherever users, data, and applications operate.”

He explained that while Omega’s previous Smart Secure offerings were focused on fixed environments using firewalls and VPNs, Smart Secure Edge takes a more adaptive approach built for distributed teams and modern infrastructure. “What makes Omega Systems different is the delivery,” Tercha said. “We don’t just hand over a tool - we manage the service end-to-end so customers get outcomes, not more complexity.”

This distinction highlights Omega’s emphasis on delivering results rather than point products. By integrating networking and security into a single, fully managed service, Smart Secure Edge helps businesses eliminate the overhead of managing disparate systems - while gaining a unified layer of visibility and control.

Simplifying the Shift to SASE

For many mid-market organizations still reliant on legacy setups, moving to a cloud-native security model can feel daunting. Tercha acknowledged this reality, noting that Omega’s managed delivery model is designed to simplify the transition without disruption.

“For organizations transitioning from traditional VPNs and firewall appliances, our team handles every aspect of the migration to Smart Secure Edge, from initial planning and agent deployment to policy configuration and ongoing management,” he said. “This ensures a seamless, low-disruption transition to a cloud-native, zero trust architecture.”

Omega also recognizes that some customers may need a phased approach. “In some cases, Smart Secure Edge can be layered alongside existing infrastructure,” Tercha added. “This allows customers to phase in SASE where it makes the most impact, such as securing remote users, cloud apps, or branch locations, while keeping the core firewall in place for on-premise needs.”

This flexibility is key for mid-market businesses balancing modernization with stability. Omega’s team provides continuous oversight, maintains visibility across user activity, and delivers regular reporting — ensuring customers stay informed and in control throughout the process.

Integrating with MDR and SOC Services

Smart Secure Edge doesn’t stand alone. It reinforces Omega’s broader managed detection and response (MDR) and Security Operations Center (SOC) capabilities, creating a comprehensive, layered defense.

“When you look at Omega’s comprehensive security ecosystem, it’s really designed to protect customers across all layers – from data and endpoints to network perimeters,” Tercha explained. “Smart Secure Edge is fortifying that network layer and giving our customers flexibility and scalability as their attack surface expands.”

By pairing SASE with Smart Guard, Omega’s MDR service, clients gain proactive protection across increasingly distributed environments. “Utilizing a SASE solution alongside threat prevention and response services gives clients broader protection as threats increasingly target cloud-based assets and remote access points,” he noted.

Omega also aligns its managed governance, risk, and compliance (GRC) solutions with frameworks such as HIPAA, GLBA, SEC, and CJIS - an approach Tercha says strengthens defense-in-depth while helping organizations demonstrate compliance. “When combined, Smart Secure Edge, Smart Guard, and our SOC services create an integrated security posture where access is tightly controlled, activity is continuously monitored, and incidents are rapidly contained.”

Delivering Value for MSSPs and Clients

From an MSSP standpoint, Smart Secure Edge is designed to bring scalability and simplicity to customers without adding operational strain. “Smart Secure Edge ends the cycle of expensive firewall refreshes by consolidating multiple protections into one managed service,” Tercha said.

The shift to a predictable operating expense model helps customers reduce capital costs while improving flexibility. “For Omega, it reinforces our role as a trusted MSSP partner that makes security simpler, giving customers the agility and protection they need without the operational drag,” he added.

With Smart Secure Edge, Omega Systems continues to evolve its role from service provider to strategic security partner - one focused on helping businesses adapt to modern connectivity challenges. The solution bridges network modernization and Zero Trust principles through a managed model that reduces complexity, improves resilience, and prepares organizations for the realities of a cloud-first world.
