Arbor Networks Upgrades DDoS Detection and Mitigation Platform

Arbor Networks, a provider of distributed denial of service (DDoS), advanced persistent threat (APT) and network visibility solutions, has launched a new version of its Arbor APS DDoS detection and mitigation platform for MSSPs and enterprise customers.

The new release, Arbor APS v5.11, is designed to help organizations manage multiple APS devices and reduce the time to attack mitigation, Arbor asserts.

Arbor APS v5.11 features a new console that can be used to manage up to 50 APS devices, according to the compny. This console provides centralized configuration and aggregated views of all DDoS attack activity, Arbor indicated.

In addition, Arbor has partnered with key and certificate management solutions provider Venafi to help Arbor APS v5.11 users set up and maintain large-scale SSL/TLS inspection to stop Layer 7 DDoS attacks that are hidden in encrypted traffic, Arbor said in a company statement.

Arbor APS v5.11 continuously receives the most current SSL/TLS keys and certificates used across an organization, Arbor stated, to more quickly mitigate DDoS attacks.

"With Arbor Networks integration now available for the Venafi Platform, customers can maximize visibility into encrypted traffic and protect themselves faster from DDoS attacks quickly becoming the norm," Venafi Vice President of Security Strategy Kevin Bocek said in a prepared statement.

What Is Arbor APS?

Arbor APS provides on-premise DDoS protection for enterprise and government networks, Arbor noted. It offers DDoS detection and mitigation capabilities and automatic security updates delivered by Arbor's Security Engineering and Response Team (ASERT) to help organizations address known and emerging cyber threats, according to Arbor.

Key features of Arbor APS include:

  • Built-in SSL inspection.
  • DDoS detection and mitigation automation.
  • Integrated cloud-based and on-premise DDoS protection.
  • Real-time DDoS mitigation reporting and forensics.

Arbor APS also delivers DDoS protection against availability threats such as application-layer DDoS attacks, Arbor stated.
