VMware Cloud Foundation adds top AI models to private cloud platform

VMware has expanded its VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) private cloud platform by integrating numerous popular AI models, aiming to simplify on-premises deployment and offer model-as-a-service capabilities for customers. This move is expected to reduce adoption barriers for artificial intelligence, based on information published by CRN.

The VCF platform now supports validated AI models from Google, Nvidia, NEC, Alibaba Cloud, and Z.ai, including Google's Gemma 4 and Nvidia's Nemotron 3. This expansion allows partners to bring a wider array of AI models to their clients' on-premises environments, enhancing data sovereignty and cost-efficiency. VMware also introduced new AI-ready data foundations for its Tanzu Platform, featuring hardened agent sandboxes with a deny-by-default security model to protect against prompt injection and unauthorized access. These foundations process enterprise data locally to improve AI agent accuracy and reduce token costs. Additionally, new features include a developer harness for faster build times and a curated marketplace for discovering vetted AI models and tools.
