Microsoft Azure Cloud Security Assessments: Qualys Jumps In

Qualys, a cloud security solutions provider, has added automated compliance monitoring and assessment capabilities for the Center for Internet Security (CIS) Microsoft Azure Foundations Benchmark to its Cloud Security Assessment (CSA) Cloud App.

Yes, that's more than a mouthful. So what does it really mean? Security and DevOps teams can use the CSA compliance monitoring and assessment capabilities to continuously identify cyber threats caused by misconfigurations, unwarranted access and non-standard deployments, the company asserts. They also can access remediation steps to quickly identify and manage risks.

Qualys Unveils Azure Stack Integration

In addition to the CSA compliance monitoring and assessment capabilities announcement, Qualys this week unveiled an Azure Stack integration that provides a single-pane view of an organization's security and compliance posture of Azure infrastructure and user workloads. Both efforts surfaced at the Microsoft Ignite 2018 conference in Orlando.

Azure customers can use the integration to assess the vulnerability and compliance posture of Azure Stack's control plane infrastructure, the firm indicated. They also can deploy Qualys Virtual Scanner Appliances directly from the Azure Stack Marketplace or Qualys Cloud Agents as an extension while spinning up new virtual machines to identify vulnerable systems and applications across Azure's hybrid cloud model.

Introducing Qualys Consulting Edition for MSSPs and MSPs

Qualys is addressing assessments in multiple ways. For instance, the company last month launched a Consulting Edition for MSSPs and managed service providers (MSPs).

MSSPs and MSPs can use the platform to manage multiple vulnerability assessments from a single, centralized and self-updating platform, according to the company. Partners can also consolidate their security stack for on-premises environments, endpoints and clouds.

It is built on the company's cloud platform and includes Qualys Cloud Agent support for real-time vulnerability management.

A Closer Look at the Qualys Cloud Platform

The Qualys Cloud Platform uses sensors to provide visibility into an organization's IT assets, the company noted. It automatically collects and analyzes security and compliance data and enables an organization to provision various security and compliance apps as needed.

Qualys today supports more than 10,300 businesses. The company also partners with MSSPs, MSPs and value-added resellers (VARs) to deliver security services and vulnerability management solutions worldwide.
