Blue Mantis has introduced
Mantis Protect, a fully managed cybersecurity service built for midsized organizations that need enterprise-grade defenses without the expense of running their own SOC. The service combines AI-driven detection and response with the company’s in-house analysts, giving IT leaders around-the-clock protection under a subscription model.
Closing the Midmarket Security Gap
Midsized businesses face the same cyberthreats as large enterprises but often lack the staff and budget to counter them effectively. Traditional MSSPs typically stop at detection and response, leaving gaps that attackers can exploit. Mantis Protect is designed to close those gaps by extending the capabilities of internal IT teams. It covers continuous monitoring, incident response, vulnerability management, and dark web intelligence, while also layering on proactive threat hunting and compliance support. The goal is to reduce risk while making day-to-day security operations less overwhelming.
Jay Martin, CISO of Blue Mantis told MSSP Alert, “Most MSSPs stop at detection and response and focus only on cybersecurity - Mantis Protect goes further providing foundational, unified and predictive services within our portfolio. From managed XDR to Threat Hunting and everywhere in between. We built it specifically for the midmarket, where security, IT operations, and compliance intersect and where organizations we work with compete for limited resources.”
That deliberate focus on midsized organizations is informed by Blue Mantis’ long history in managed services under its GreenPages brand. Martin pointed out that the company has been an MSP since 2009 and an MSSP since 2019, giving it credibility to bridge cybersecurity and governance, risk, and compliance with IT and digital operations. “What sets us apart is our ability to bridge cybersecurity and GRC with IT and Digital Operations services, giving customers a unified cybersecurity and operational experience,” he said. The result, he added, is “not just protection - it’s partnership.”
A Full Spectrum of Services
Mantis Protect is structured as a modular platform so customers can adopt what they need most or deploy the entire stack. It spans nine core areas: managed detection and response, endpoint detection and response with extended capabilities, email security to stop phishing and account takeovers, cloud native application protection across AWS, Azure, GCP, and Kubernetes, secure service edge for enforcing zero-trust access in distributed environments, proactive threat hunting, continuous vulnerability management, dark web monitoring for exposed credentials and sensitive data, and governance, risk, and compliance as a service to simplify frameworks such as NIST, PCI DSS, and HIPAA.
Blending Automation with Human Expertise
At the center of Mantis Protect is a balance between machine speed and human judgment. AI and machine learning power the threat detection engines, sifting through massive volumes of telemetry to surface anomalies quickly. But automation alone isn’t enough.
"In short, Mantis Protect doesn’t automate threat hunting - it augments it by enabling our experts to do what machines cannot - think like adversaries, act with context and protect with purpose,” Martin explained. “AI and machine learning are essential for scaling threat detection. It helps us process massive volumes of telemetry and surface anomalies faster than any human team could. But threat hunting isn’t just about identifying patterns; it’s about understanding intent, context, and risk. That’s where our human analysts come in.”
This combination of technology and expertise is meant to prevent the kind of alert fatigue that plagues many security teams. By unifying detection, investigation, and compliance, the service is designed to help midmarket IT leaders move from reacting to incidents toward running proactive, resilient security operations.
Building with the Channel
The company is also leaning on its partner ecosystem to deliver Mantis Protect more broadly. Martin noted that the service is built on technologies sourced from trusted partners, but the delivery and integrations come directly from Blue Mantis’ own security and IT professionals. All SOC, NOC, and EUX services are staffed by Blue Mantis employees across onshore, nearshore, and offshore locations, rather than outsourced to third parties.
“Our channel partners play a critical role in extending this value to midmarket customers, delivering Mantis Protect as part of a broader cybersecurity, GRC and IT strategy,” Martin said. “Together, we offer more than just tools - we offer a unified, scalable solution that combines automation, human expertise, and operational alignment. We’re stronger together, and Mantis Protect reflects that philosophy.”
