Private equity firm Vitruvian Partners has acquired Meriplex, an SD-WAN and managed security provider, for an undisclosed sum. In addition, private equity firm Clairvest Group will remain a minority shareholder in the company.
Meriplex, backed by its new private equity ownership, has purchased MSP Verma Systems.
These are technology M&A deals number 650 and 651, respectively, that MSSP Alert and sister site ChannelE2E have covered so far in 2022.
Virtuvian, founded in 2006, is based in London, England. The company has 136 employees listed on LinkedIn. Virtuvian's areas of expertise include investments in cybersecurity, finance and healthcare organizations.
Meriplex, founded in 2001, is based in Houston, Texas. The company has 219 employees listed on LinkedIn. Meriplex's areas of expertise include cybersecurity, cloud computing, disaster recovery-as-a-service (DRaaS) and backup-as-a-service.
Verma, founded in 1991, is based in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The company has 31 employees listed on LinkedIn. Verma's areas of expertise include IT business consulting, network design, vulnerability assessments and cloud services.
Meriplex Enhances Its Technology and Service Offerings
Vitruvian's investment represents the "next significant chapter of expansion and success for Meriplex," says Vitruvian partner Luuk Remmen. It provides Meriplex with capital and capabilities to support its growth and the expansion of its managed cybersecurity, IT and SD-WAN solutions.
Meanwhile, Verma bolsters Meriplex's technology and service offerings, Meriplex CEO David Henley says. It also supports Meriplex's goal to become one of the nation's leading MSPs and MSSPs.
Meriplex Acquires MSP LightPoint
The Verma acquisition comes after Meriplex in June 2022 acquired LightPoint.
LightPoint, founded in 2001, is based in Lake Oswego, Oregon. The company has 23 employees listed on LinkedIn. LightPoint's areas of expertise include security and risk management, IT security, data networking and managed services.
The LightPoint acquisition extends Meriplex's managed IT and security solutions market reach to healthcare organizations in the Pacific Northwest, the companies said. It strengthens Meriplex's ability to support healthcare organizations and help them secure and manage patient data.
Meriplex strategically acquires businesses to establish a local presence in various regions across the United States, the MSP noted. It also provides an alliance program and has partnered with Fortinet, Zerto and other cybersecurity companies.
