Securicom, No. 218 on MSSP Alert’s 2022 Top 250 MSSPs list, is an IT security company founded in 2001 and headquartered in Cape Town, South Africa.

The business also has offices in Johannesburg, South Africa; Windhoek, Namibia; Dallas, Texas (U.S.); and Sydney, Australia.

Securicom’s Business Focus

Securicom is a global managed security services (MSSP) business that understands not only the international security threat landscape but also takes great care to ensure we attain intimate knowledge of the local regions wherein we operate, explained Richard Broeke, managing director.

He noted that Securicom managed security services (MSS) deliver a diversified portfolio of 24/7 services (at a fraction of the cost) to meet the demands of a wide range of businesses through a custom-made approach working with client-provided legacy technologies, as well as Securicom-provided technologies.

"With 20 years of experience in the industry and offices on three continents, we supply services into more than 15 countries and have the capability to secure any business, from start-up to multi-national," Broecke said, adding that the MSSP has 50 staff members focused fulltime on managed security. "The tech we have in our SOC didn’t exist in 2002."

Furthermore, Securicom’s solutions operate on only the best-of-breed technology, including Symantec Brightmail, Riverbed, Zenprise and Trustwave, and are hosted offsite at the company’s local data centers.

Company Achievements and a Look Ahead

As for company milestones, Broeke points to the establishment of its security operations center (SOC) and a move to focus on managed security monitoring and response to complement its MSSP offerings.

Then, in 2002, Securicom retooled its SOC with next-generation security information and event management (SIEM) capabilities.

“This move provided real time visibility for our team and customers into security events, which allows us to respond quickly and effectively to security events,” Broeke said.

As for key priorities in 2023, Broeke said that Securicom plans to “grow our footprint and help customers of all sizes across the globe to have greater visibility into cyber threats and have access to the appropriate tools to protect their intellectual property effectively.”
