Aella Data, which provides artificial intelligence-based cybersecurity solutions for MSSPs and VARs, has introduced the Starlight pervasive breach detection system (PBDS).

Starlight unifies collected data and conducts advanced analysis across network infrastructure, according to a prepared statement. It uses advanced machine learning to provide high-fidelity alerts and integrates with existing perimeter defense, security information and event management (SIEM) and traditional cybersecurity solutions.

Starlight enables MSSPs and VARs to scale detection across containers, virtual machines (VMs) and other network infrastructure, Aella said. It leverages multiple types of machine learning in conjunction with various algorithms to help organizations improve their detection speed and accuracy and reduce false positives.

In addition, Starlight applies deep intelligence through advanced AI with pervasive data, Aella CEO Changming Liu stated. This enables organizations to use Starlight to detect sophisticated cyberattacks that other cybersecurity systems often miss.

What Does Starlight Offer MSSPs and VARs?

Key features of Starlight include:

  • Pervasive Visibility: Collects data from every part of an organization's network infrastructure.
  • Advanced Machine Learning: Applies machine learning across an organization's technology stack.
  • AellaFlow Network Monitoring and Breach Detection: Reduces raw data and enhances data quality to improve network monitoring and breach detection.

Starlight is the first PBDS to leverage AI and Aella's patent-pending Distributed Security Intelligence architecture, the company said. It empowers MSSPs and VARs to proactively detect and thwart cyberattacks on critical data systems, Aella noted, and deliver a complete breach detection solution.

Aella: Here's What You Need to Know

Aella was founded by industry veterans from NetScreen, Juniper Networks, Fortinet and other cybersecurity companies. The business is led by Liu, founder of enterprise cloud networking firm Aerohive Networks, and its leadership team includes former Comodo executives John Peterson and Paul Jespersen.

Peterson serves as Aella's chief product officer. Prior to joining Aella, he worked as GM and VP at Comodo.

Jespersen is Aella's VP of corporate and business development. He previously worked as VP of business development at advanced malware protection firm Lastline and VP of business development and emerging technologies at Comodo.

Aella is backed by NetScreen co-founder Feng Deng and venture firm Northern Light Venture Capital. The company also is scaling rapidly and expects to raise additional funding this year.
